Two Investment Outfits to Get You Excited for Autumn

While it might seem like I’m a permanent summer lover, voracious holidayer, Vitamin D addict (call me what you will), Autumn is in fact my favourite season in the U.K. I’m essentially like some kind of hibernating chipmunk and come August I start bedding down, filling my cheeks and generally gearing up to lie under a blanket with a remote for the next 6 months. Yeah the weather is great and the food is my favourite (pumpkins for everyone!), it’s the clothes that get me really excited. I love being barefoot and bikini-clad for sure, but when I started seeing the Autumn/Winter collections dropping online I can’t help but start craving sweater weather. And I know, I can’t quite believe I’m saying that in August either… In my defence, I’m not quite there yet, but I am at the point where I’m looking forward to next season and starting to compile mental wannabe wish lists of the pieces that are going to be worth investing in to take me through to Spring.

I’m obsessed with the brand Nili Lotan right now. So many beautiful, simple pieces in all different textures (silk, cashmere and suede oh my) made for layering. Case in point, this ribbed jumper that makes for the perfect base for a dark denim skirt, Marc Jacobs Mary-Janes and one of this season’s future ‘it’ bags by Marques Almeida.These are the kind of pieces you buy now and wear with denim shorts or a t-shirt while summer winds down, only to start layering up good and proper when it gets colder. I even think the Mary-Janes would look amazing with sheer black socks too. 

Be still my beating heart. These Attico jeans! The Loewe earrings! The Maje jacket! All too good. This is the kind of jacket worth investing in come September as it works on so many levels (it’s part of a set and I really, really want to rock it as a suit) and eases you into winter with aplomb. And you can’t get into the Autumnal spirit without at least one piece of some rich, rust-coloured, leafy goodness aka these Acne pumps. Again, just as good with a shirt dress for work now as they will be with copped leather kick flares as we head towards Halloween.
