I feel like these shoes are more ‘ugly sisters’ than Cinderella, given the fact they could squeeze their feet into these backless beauties, but nevertheless they feel mighty fancy on. Side note, I’ve also started shopping like my mum and subscribed to the whole ‘if it fits, buy it in every colour’ and got these in plain black suede too… I think that’s a sign you are officially old by the way. I never really do that but I couldn’t decide between the two so after an hour of staring at my computer screen, I ended up guiltily ordering both and, guiltily again, keeping both too.
I went all out slinky here and teamed them with a satin slip dress and shoulder-grazing earrings, but day-to-day I’d probably wear these more with just jeans and a vintage t-shirt to elevate my everyday uniform. Shoes have been a real obsession of mine of late. I always thought I was more of a bag person but recently, I’m like a magpie for footwear. Being in L.A doesn’t help; the shoes here all speak to me. From Loq to Maryan Nassir Zadeh and Loeffler Randal, there’s seemingly no end of beautiful mules, sandals and heels that I can get on board with. Ironic that I’m discovering the Carrie Bradshaw in me on the wrong side of the U.S but there we go…
Despite having the sartorial side of my brain permanently turned towards the sun, I’m trying my hardest to only buy things geared towards Autumn for while and these are the just the kind of transitional items I feel I can justify as we head into a new season. They work now in the height of L.A summer and will still work for dinners out right through into the start of winter (as long as you’re ubering that is). Tick tick.
