Pelican Bar and Beyond
If you can tear yourself away from your terrace/sunlounger, there’s one very special place you need to take a trip to if you’re lucky enough to ever find yourself at Jakes….
I’d seen pictures of the infamous Pelican Bar online and my birthday felt like a pretty good day to set sail to this iconic bar in the middle of the ocean. On the 30 minute boat ride over to the bar, we were treated to yet another wonder as a school of about twelve dolphins started jumping and playing all around us. I’ve never seen dolphins like this before, only from miles away in Wales, so this was a real memory-making moment and I got so overly excited I think my squeals were so high-pitched only dolphins could actually hear them. hence why they hung around for so long.
From there, we were on a real high when we got to Pelican bar and settled in for the sunset and rum punch on tap. If you picture old-school, rustic, Rasta-style Jamaica this is it. As soon we we stepped off the boat and onto the wooden bar, we both fell in love… And side-note, if you don’t like the smell of weed, nows the time to start getting used to it. I’ve seen a lot of great sunsets, in a lot of great places, but this topped the lot. It makes you realise that no amount of five star luxury can match simple, amazing places like these that need no frills or extras. Not that it needs it, but this place really adds to Jakes’ appeal too as really it’s only people staying in Treasure Beach that can get to this place relatively easily (without a sizeable journey of course). Without doubt, the best day we had in Jamaica…. And don’t forget to grab a bottle-opener and carve your names into the deck so you can stay on Pelican Bar forever. Once the sun started to set, we headed back to Jakes where I was serenaded by their resident reggae-singer and presented with a huge, pink frosted cake. Yep, I definitely peaked this year in terms of birthdays this year…

Back in reality, away from the magical bars and jumping dolphins, I’ve teamed up with i-escape who helped me organise our stay at Jakes and my great friends over at Asceno for a competition I think you guys will love. From their silk PJs to their printed bikinis and beachwear, I’ve loved wearing Asceno for years and this trip I packed a whole load of new season pieces and quickly realised I needed little else to live in while I was away. Throw in a hat and some denim shorts and I’m good to go. If you follow me on insta, you’ll no doubt have noticed their bikinis, cover-ups and that dreamy white linen shirt I had on rotation on a daily basis….
Click here to enter and be in with the chance to win £450 to spend on Asceno just in time for holiday season too…. My faves? Definitely the white linen pieces, the long silk shirt dress feels ridiculously chic and this bikini is the dream with a tan.
Good luck with the competition guys… Let me know what you get if you win and you’re reading this!
