True Blue

I feel like this perfectly sums up my contradictory approach to getting dressed.

Long sleeves vs sawn-off hems. Layered necklaces vs less is more. Seventies accessories vs nineties denim. This is one big culmination of every little sartorial habit I fall back on time and time again. From raiding my boyfriend’s wardrobe for the good kind of oversized, to cutting off the hem of jeans to make them more flattering for my petite-ish frame, it feels good to remember the things that make you feel like you. With so many different influences and inspirations floating around on a daily basis, it’s easy to forget the basic essentials and personal failsafes that make you feel like the true version of yourself.

I will always love to shop. Not necessarily the act of trawling the high street (because really who loves that), but stumbling upon new brands online, raiding that must-visit vintage warehouse or just having to have that new bikini for a holiday will always give me that tea total high. But sometimes it pays to forget the new and remember the old. That doesn’t have to mean wearing threadbare favourites you’ve had forever; just harking back to classic looks you loved then and will continue to rely on for years to come.
