“Do I look a bit Dora the Explorer on Safari?” I asked my friend when I put this on. “Yeah. But I like it” she replied. And I have to agree. Khaki, big hats, black skinnies and espadrilles; I’m pretty much piling on all my favourite things while still blending into the background. Just how I like it. And for my first exploration, I opted for the great British high street….
I always find myself shopping more come Spring. In the winter, I tend to invest in a handful of classic, lifelong coats, knitwear and boots and wear them to death, whereas once it warms up I like to be a bit more frivolous, looking to the high street and vintage stores for carefree, throw-on pieces that can get covered in sand, mud and grass stains and I don’t really care.
So when Forever 21 asked me to choose some favourite pieces from their new Spring collection, it felt like a really apt time to revisit the high street store. The shoes in particular totally won me over (I got these strappy espadrilles in brown too) while this khaki shirt unsurprisingly went straight in my basket. I plan on throwing it over everything and anything this summer, from silk slip dresses to Breton stripes and denim cut-offs. As always on the high street, ignore the sizes and buy for the fit you want. I tended to go up a size or two to get everything that bit more oversized which is how I like it so don’t get depressed if your normal size is too small….
