Two Beats One

FMN | Two Beats One - 1

Sometimes more really is more, especially when it comes to winters layers. And when you’re draped in top-to-leather and wool, a flash of indigo denim really is good for the soul. I don’t know whether its the 70s comeback we’re all feeling or my eternal yearning for all things 90s, but the classic jean jacket is firmly back on my radar, and I think it’s at its best when right in the mix of multiple layers.

So when Gap approached me for their Styld By series, the first thing I immediately knew I wanted was a classic denim jacket and I found exactly that. Unlike lots of vintage styles that feel altogether too Goonies-like, Gap continues to turn out perfect straight-cut jackets that aren’t too shrunken or dipped in some 80s acid wash. I love the throwback popped collar and its ability to lift an otherwise seen-that-done-that get up too. While you’d think two coats would mean more bulk, it actually means you can go for a lighter, thinner layers underneath and keep the whole thing altogether more streamlined while still keeping that core toasty.

Turns out two really does beat one and it’s almost enough to make me fall back in love with the cold….
