Like You Culotte
Sometimes winter dressing doesn’t come easy.
I can all too often fall into the trap of hiding beneath a nondescript uniform of skinny jeans, ankle boots, knitted jumper and long coat. Tick tick tick. It’s a well-tested formula but one that can fast become a rut that’s difficult to get out if you don’t give yourself a bit of a shove from time to time.
My most recent ‘shove’ came in the form of these camel culottes I picked up in Zara. Made from thick wool and long enough to show just the tiniest flash of ankle, they’re the ideal antedote to a normcore winter uniform and have tempted me out of my faithful leather skinnies for a little while. Layering two sweaters (and several not suitable for the outside world vests/t-shirts) also means my faithful bikers jacket isn’t totally redundant till Spring.
Good accessories are always a good way to up the ante in winter too. High-shine shoes (after selling out on Aldo I’ve found these available on ASOS here) have become a firm favourite and I’m basically dressing around this Meli Melo bag right now. If I’m not wearing it, I’m stroking/staring at it. That’s what a heady dose of new leopard love will do to you….
