After Dark
I’ve always wanted to pull off a proper tux and have been waiting to find the perfect fit and occasion to do my own take on ‘Le Smoking’.
Enter Reiss, who invited me and five other bloggers to get suited and booted in our favourite evening looks for a new campaign called My Style : After Dark for the brand. On my appointment ahead of the shoot, I restrained myself from going down the well trodden path of leather trousers and white shirt, instead opting to finally live out all my androgynous Jerry Hall in Yves Saint Laurent fantasies. You can see the full shoot and the other ladies’ looks here.
It was the trousers that won me over. They didn’t need any taking up (hurrah), had a really nice culotte-ish fit and showed off the killer shoes perfectly. The blazer came second and while it’s not a perfect match to the trousers, I don’t think it really mattered given how great the fit was. For any petite ladies out there, it’s worth noting Reiss goes down to a U.K size 4 in tailoring. This really helped with this look seeing as I was daring to wear very little underneath to keep it as uncorporate as possible, and thus needed it to be decidedly unbulky and streamlined.
See, its not just those office workers and city bankers that need a good suit in their life….
