A Desk Of My Own
I’ve been my own boss for about six months now and while I still relish the chance to work in bed, on the sofa, and at my kitchen table if I’m feeling really well-behaved, I’m now at the point where all I want is a desk of my own….
The aformentioned kitchen table is currently serving as my surrogate desk and constantly covered in files, notepads, receipts, sticky notes and memory cards amongst other things. We rarely eat at the table because it’s always covered in important, not-to-be-spilled on things and are thus turning into the twits. Boxes and bags are cluttering my tiny, narrow hallway and my back’s starting to hunch from working on a stool too high for my very low table… Painting a pretty picture aren’t I?
Another thing I’m craving is the ability to shut the door on everything else; the washing up, the hoovering, and pile of clothes that need folding and putting away. Likewise being able to shut my laptop behind said door at the end of the day rather than working until the early hours which has become a bad habit I’ve got into.
So, what’s a girl to do other than resort to Pinterest and start dreaming of the day I have a small but perfectly formed space to use as a makeshift home office…. These are a few of my favourite bits of inspiration I’m storing up for when I eventually get that elusive workspace.
Plenty of clean, white shelving to store bits and pieces….
I love the cosiness of this office. The rug and sheepksin over the chair makes it so homely.
All you need is a nook.
In built drawers and shelves and a whole wall of inspiration.
A big wide desk and tolix chair with extra softness.
This is pretty much my dream desk. Old, big and rustic and it looks great with a more contemporary white chair and metal desk lamp.
A big desk fitted to the misshaped corners of the room.
Watching the weather through that window would make work so much better. Not sure how much work I’d get done next to it though….
Brass and copper clips attached to the walls are great for displaying invitations and must-do documents.
This is a realistic desk for me. Cluttered but organised with lots of places to store things.
So sinple and clean.
The shelves are pretty dreamy and the scrubbed white table is so on point.
Love this French style snug.
So much space and I would definitely fill it!
Really like the inbuilt storage and bookshelves. Looking out of a window is always nice too…
Fairy lights and an industrial wire rack for to-do lists and memos.
Turn your desk out from the wall and sit facing into the room to feel more open.
I will never be this organised but can always pretend….
I need one of those arrows! The chair looks really comfy too.
Flowers and candles make work feel less like chore.
Intense organisation. I need to take a leaf out of this person’s office…
If all else fails, stick a bed above your desk for those much-needed naps….
