A little insight into the things currently littering my workspace.
Seems appropriate to start with breakfast. The bowl of gunk may look suspect, but it is in fact the best porridge ever. Have you always been someone who wants to like porridge but just can’t get round the hot milk smell and gruel-like consistency? Me too, until now… The key is ditching the dairy and making it properly (read slowly) in a pan rather than in the microwave where possible.
One small cup of Rude Health porridge oats, the same amount of almond milk and half a cup of water simmered and stirred with 2 teaspoons milled chia seeds, 1 teaspoon raw cacao, good sprinkling of cinnamon, few drops of vanilla essence and a drop of honey for sweetness. Just add the chia seeds last to save the whole thing from going too gelatinous.
Beauty-wise, my Aesop hand balm and Eve Lom Kiss Mix are never far from reach and I’m hooked on Bella Freud’s new spicy scent. The Astier de Villatte Hollywood candle is a current favourite and helps keep my living room-turned-office inviting, delicious-smelling and generally a place I want to spend time.
Picked up Swedish magazine Styleby in the airport on my way home from Stockholm fashion week (more on that soon), and I’m totally hooked on it’s easy breed of Scandi minimalism. Ideal inspiration with a new season and fashion week around the corner. Just as good even if you don’t understand a word of Swedish too…. You might have spied a special-looking delivery from Net-A-Porter on my instagram recently with lots asking what was inside. Well it housed the ultimate in fashion week survival kits with luggage tags, USB phone chargers, notebooks, beauty gifts and these Fashion Insider Guides for New York and Paris. All going well, I’ll be heading to Paris later this month so I’ll be scouring these for some new places to check out between the shows.
