The Latest Designer Collab To Know About
Designer pieces at high street prices are appealing whatever your pay packet, so good designer collaborations are understandably long-anticipated, much-hyped affairs and the latest in the footwear domain is no exception.
Some such collabs can end up leaving you feeling a bit flat. Sometimes they might lift the designer’s creations directly and simply make them in cheaper fabrics which subsequently don’t fit or fall how the designer intended, or the collection feels totally different to what you loved about the designer in the first place. But sometimes, these collaborations really are a meeting of minds and the product ends up being exactly what you’d want it to be….
Enter Dune London who have teamed up with designer Rupert Sanderson to bring Sanderson’s sleek, satin-coated designs to the great British high street. And I can safely say, if you’re a fan of Rupert’s design, you will be allover this one. These shoes feel every bit as special as Sanderson’s mainline designs including those signature wavy edges. I’m becoming less and less of a heel person these days (the older I get, the more I seem to be reverting to school girl footwear tragically), so these one inchers were my favourites. Once upon a time I would have deemed a heel this height far too ‘sensible’ and prim, but now I feel like they add a super sweet French girl vibe to just about everything, especially when you throw in a basket and sugary sweet dress (flowers and beret might be overkill).
From toothache-inducing tea dresses (made doable for my scruffy self thanks to my trusty black biker jacket) to my standard uniform of blue jeans and breton jumpers, these little pumps do it all. I never wear ballet pumps (too many memories of dirty, soggy ones destroyed in clubs at university – grim I know) but these give that same kind of look with the added bonus of a slight heel. It might be small, but it’s not to be underestimated in terms of flattering those hams. They give serious toe cleavage too which help keep little legs looking long and long legs looking, well, even longer damnit. Sidenote, I sized down in these so if you have narrow feet or normally take a half size, go down a size rather than up I reckon.
