Big ears. An insult no more it turns out… As a child, I had a real hang-up about my elf-like ears but now I’ve embraced the Legolas side of me, my magpie eyes have moved from necklaces to earrings, the bigger the better. Some trophies for this trophy head if you will. Which is a kind of apt seeing as this season’s earrings are weighty, bold and nothing less than a statement. From the architectural to the cosmic, these are the kind of earrings made for lazy dressers like me who love nothing more than wearing a white tee, vintage jeans and a red lip for a fancy event. In fact, rather than investing in new threads this season, I feel like investing in some serious ear candy is going to be my way of breathing new life into well-worn wardrobe favourites and trusty uniforms.
L.A-based jewellery designer and homeware curator Sophie Buhai’s earrings are top of my list right now. Sculptural and raw, I’m obsessed with her face earrings and the wobbly, elongated flat hoops. Annisse Kermiche and Charlotte Chesnais are other designer favourites to pay attention to and great designers to invest in right now. Elsewhere, Mango on the high street does seriously good earrings while Anthropologie can surprise you… I’ve put a bunch more options below that I’m loving (including some more affordable options), some a similar vibe to these and others that are screaming out for margaritas and sunshine this summer.
